This toy here my friends, has proven itself to be one of the finest additions to my vanlife travels!
There is nothing like pulling up to a waterway in the van, with curious outdoor enthusiasts standing by, thinking to themselves, “what business does he have in these here parts?”.
“What’s he gonna do here without a boat?! What is he? Some kind of weirdo?”
Well, yes.
But, a weirdo with an awesome life! Not to mention an AWESOME inflatable kayak that can be quickly popped out and assembled for any waterway tour found desirable!
WHY GO WITH AN INFLATABLE KAYAK?
When most people think of any kind of vessel to dependably carry themselves and their “crew” from point A to B. In most scenarios, one most definitely does not have the inflatable sort in mind from the start.
When I first started saving for a kayak, I was totally going for a hard shell…
Then, I started thinking some more.
I asked myself questions along these lines:
- Do you think it will get stolen?
- Will it attract unwanted attention when parking overnight in urban areas?
- What about weather and other elemental wear?
- How will I go about securing it when traveling?
- Will I be able to secure it for travel and still get sunlight to my solar panels?
These questions triggered the need to do some research and see what all was out there.
I told myself that if I could find something durable and well designed, an inflatable kayak may not be all that bad of an idea! I could pack it inside, solving the issues raised by ALL questions above!

All in all, just as much as in anything else, what you plan to use it for and how you plan to have your fun on the water will be the best determining factor of what model and features you might lean toward.
I also found it comforting that not only was Advanced Elements listed as #1 in this review as a quality inflatable kayak manufacturer, it held 2 spots in a list of 7!!

I have had my Kayak for about 3 years now and it remains damage free!
I have no complaints regarding its usability and versatility, nor do I have any plan to replace it any time in the near future!
I have taken it to all kinds of lakes and rivers. My majority of experience is in calmer waters and I have yet to put it into the ocean, but I imagine when I get the opportunity to, I will simply take more care to clean away any sand and salt water. Zip Zap.
