It sure ain’t cheap to stop by a Starbucks everyday for your morning pick-me-up and if you’re traveling, I’m sure you may want to save money any where you can.

But, that also doesn’t mean you can’t have your favorite “cup of joe” when on the trail or the road.

I personally love the French Press!

I decided I wanted to find something agreeable to take with me in my traveling home.

I wasn’t so concerned over what kind or brand as much as wanting it to be friendly to my wallet and not shatter in unpredictable terrain while driving.

If you’re not familiar with the French Press, one feature that many of them have, is usually a glass container for the liquid to go in.

This was something we wanted to avoid.

No matter your method of road travel, transporting glass is generally considered less than ideal.

Following a bit of shopping around and deliberation, the decision was made to go with the Stanley Cook + Brew Set

We approve of it’s performance to date!

One of the exciting bonus features of this product is that it is a two-in-one.

Unlike a coffee pot that you will most likely only use for coffee, this set is designed to serve as not only a coffee maker but is also ideal for heating soup and or any other meal of your choice  over stove or fire.

The coffee turned out tasty!

Just make sure to have your oven mitt or other protective method for your valued digits because those handles can get hot!

CHECK OUT THOSE FLIP HANDLES! A very nice secondary design feature where you are able to fold them around the container to save on space!

If your choice is to use an indoor or outdoor burner, this works great too, and is so easy!

We do have an indoor burner, however I love to be outdoors. A full on campfire can be inefficient and time consuming no matter how nice it may be, so we also keep a portable gas stove set-up for these occasions.

I can personally recommend the unit seen above. Made by Coleman, it is a portable bottle-top propane camp stove. In either case, indoor or outdoor, you simply place your favorite brew on the burner, then heat, serve, enjoy!

If cooking with gas indoors, ventilate!

Propane is a wonderful tool and the most common global energy source, however all natural gas and propane stoves can release carbon monoxide, formaldehyde and other harmful pollutants into the air, which can be toxic to people and pets.

Somewhat related, even using a wood stove or fireplace to cook can result in high levels of indoor air pollution from wood smoke.

So, please stay safe and ventilate.

I really do like the Stanley Cook + Brew Set, but have one complaint.

I have found that if you don’t align the spout just-so, you will most likely end up with a mess and coffee somewhere other than your cup.

You can always remove the lid and pour very carefully, but it came with a lid that we paid for so we want it to work correctly.

I know, right?

And in case you were wondering… yup, all components ARE dishwasher safe!

MY COFFEE OF CHOICE

I know everyone has their own taste so you won’t find me telling you my choice is the best choice for everyone.

Meaning it doesn’t have to be Starbucks to be good. But…this side review is however for a Starbucks coffee.

I personally love a really dark and rich cup of coffee, but we all must come to the realization, it’s not all about us when traveling with others. We must make compromises and this one worked out well!

My husband doesn’t like coffee they way I do to say the least. I am not even sure that I would call what he likes coffee when he does decide to enjoy a cup.

So, the dark & rich wasn’t ideal. We needed to compromise so we chose…

Starbuck’s Colombia Single-Origin Medium blend

It is described as balanced and nutty. This is accurate.

I do feel the price to not be overwhelming, but also would like it to go down a few dollars. As always, drink what you like, but don’t forget to share!
